I think that the answer would be B, because the value of the fraction would be a greater amount eaten.

Answer: Option 'B' is correct.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Part of meal ate by James =
(5)/(8)

Part of meal ate by Josephine =
(5)/(7)

We want to compare both the meals.

For which we need to make the denominator same by taking L.C.M.

L.C.M. of 8 and 7 = 56

So, Part of meal eaten by James becomes

(5* 7)/(8* 7)=(35)/(56)

Similarly,

Part of meal eaten by Josephine becomes

(5* 8)/(7* 8)=(40)/(56)

So, Josephine eats greater part of meal than Jame eats.

Difference between their parts would be

(40)/(56)-(35)/(56)\\\\=(5)/(56)

Hence, Josephine ate
(5)/(56) more of her meal than James ate.

Thus, option 'b' is correct.
