It is extremely hot and is completely solid. It is estimated to be around 800 miles thick. The next layer is the outer core, which is a liquid made of melted nickel and iron. It is thicker than the inner core. The mantle, the thickest layer, is a liquid layer made of molten rock. It flows in currents. Finally, the crust is a very thin, solid layer at the Earth’s surface. It is divided into plates.

The four layers of Earth are the inner core, the outer core, mantle and the crust. The inner core contains the heaviest elements and solid metals. The outer core is liquid and less hot than the inner core. Mantle is the densest part, it is solid but it tends to move causing Earthquakes on the surface of the Earth. The thinnest part is the crust which is different under the ocean and on the continents. It is the coolest of all four and it consists of several plates that are moving.
