Let the number of boards be n.

Since each of them is

(1)/(12)
meter thick,

All the n boards will be,

(1)/(12) * n
meters thick or high.

Since all the board is 2 meters high, it means,

(1)/(12) n = 2
Multiplying through by 12,

n = 2×12

n = 24.

There are 24 boards in the stack.

Alternatively,

Since each board is

(1)/(12)
meters thick, the number of boards that will be 2 meters high is ;

(2)/( (1)/(12) )
This is

= 2 * (12)/(1)

= 24
