x = Nora's saved quarters we dont know full answer yet

2x + 6 = quarters Chris saved

5(x-3)= five times the difference of quarters and 3noras .

Now put equations together to solve.

2x + 6 = 5(x - 3)

Remove parentheses

2x + 6 = 5x - 15

Subtract 5x to both sides and solve x.

-3x + 6 = -15

Now subtract 6 both sides and solve

-3x = -21

x = 7 = Nora quarters

Chris original problem and substitute for x .

2x + 6 =

2 (7) + 6 =

14 + 6 = 20 quarters

So Nora has 7 quarters and Chris 20
