Why did the Hebrew people leave Canaan? Where did they go? What happened to them there?

A great drought, around 1750 BC a terrible drought struck Palestine (Canaan) and the Hebrews were forced to look for a better place to survive, and so they went to Egypt, and later enslaved by Pharaoh and freed by Moses.
