Hello!

To find the slope of a line, you divide the difference in y-values by the difference in the x-values as shown below.


(12-4)/(5-1) =(8)/(4) = 2

Therefore, your slope is 2.

The slope formula equation is:


(y_(1)-y_(2))/(x_(1)-x_(2))

Given the two sets of coordinates (1,4) and (5,12), we can plug in these coordinates for the x and y values in the equation:


(4-12)/(1-5)

This can be simplified:


(-8)/(-4)=(8)/(4)=(2)/(1)=2

The slope is 2.
