1. Given ( The Original Equation)


- 5(x - 6) = 10x

2. Distributive Property (A number, n, is distributed amongst all values in its parentheses)


- 5x + 30 = 10x

3. Addition Property Of Equality, Formally Property Of Equality ( What I add to one side of the equation, I must do it to the other)


30 = 15x

4. Divisions Property Of Equality ( What I divide on one side to the equation, I must divide on the other)


2 = x


The Commutative Property states that numbers can be added in any order or multiplied in any order. I'm unable to see the reasoning behind this in relation to the steps.
