First, we take the squares in the right and left bottom. They're equal in the length of 5m so the region of each one of them is:

5 * 5 = 25m {}^(2)
now we take the rectangular above, it has a length of 28m and a width of (9-5=4m) so its region is:

28 * 4 = 112m {}^(2)
Now the region of the shaded area is region of both of the squares and the rectangular which is:

2 * 25 + 112 = \\ 50 + 112 = \\ 162m {}^(2)
So the region of the shaded area is 162m^2
