How to solve x+16=9x

X + 16 = 9x

So the first step is to subtract the positive x from each side

x - x + 16 = 9x - x

16 = 8x

now divide 8 from the x and 16

16/8 = 8x/ 8

which cancels out the 8 on the right side leaving you with the answer

x = 8

x can be show as x or 1x. To make it a little easier to visualize, we'll use 1x instead of x. 1x + 16 = 9x. First subtract 1x from both sides. 1x - 1x + 16 = 9x - 1x. Simplify. 16 = 8x. Divide each side by 8 to get x by itself. 16 / 8 = 8x / 8 or 2 = x. The answer is x = 2
