What makes the open sentence 7x - 7 = 2x + 8 true

A. X = 0

B. X = 1

C. X = 3

That is a lot of points. 8 would do the trick to get our attention.

There are 2 ways that you can handle this question. You could just try each one of the numbers to see which value of x gives you a solution to the problem. I think you will find it is C

21 - 7 = 14

3*2 + 8 = 6 + 8 = 14

Or you could use algebra to find it.

7x - 7 = 2x + 8 Add 7 to both sides

7x - 7 + 7 = 2x + 8 + 7

7x = 2x + 15 Subtract 2x from both sides.

7x - 2x = 2x - 2x + 15

5x = 15 Divide by 5

5x/5 = 15/5

x = 3
