We know the fraction “2 and 2/3” is equal to 8/3, since 3 goes into 8 twice, which is 6, and 8-6=2 so we add 2. It takes Nim 8 thirds of an hour to weave a basket.

We need to know how many Nim can make in 8 hours a day. Eight hours (in thirds) would be 24/3 (basic division).

8/3 = 1 basket
24/3 = x baskets

x = 24/3 / 8/3

x = 24/3 * 3/8

We can get rid of the threes, which leaves us 24/8, and 24/8=3

So, Nim weaves 3 baskets in 8 hours.

Multiply this by the number of days he weaves them (5 — Monday to Friday) and we get 8*5, which equals 40.

15

He works for 5 × 8 = 40 hours

change 2
(2)/(3) into an improper fraction =
(8)/(3)

now divide 40 by
(8)/(3)

40 ÷
(8)/(3) = 40 ×
(3)/(8) = 5 × 3 = 15

He made 15 baskets
