T= trumpets

S= saxophones

T= s-10

S= 3t

Solve for t first in first equation by substituting the second equation into the first equation like this .

T=3t-10

T-3t=10

-2t=10

T=10/-2

T=5

Now substitute your t answer to second equation to find s .

S=3(5)

S=15

So you have 5 trumpets and 15 saxophones .

I hope this helps

Answer:

Explanation:

Given that there are 10 less trumpet players than saxophone players the number saxophone players is three times the number of trumpet players

Let x be number of trumpet players and y no of saxophone players

Algebraic equivalent statement for the given are

y=x+10\\y=3x\\

Subtracting I equation from 2nd we get

2x-10=0\\x=5\\y = 15

No of trumpet players = 5 and

No of saxophone players = 15
