So you want the totals to be -6 and 10, so for -6, I would do -|3| + -|3|. The negative sign on the outside cancels it out. For 10, you could do |3| + |-7|.

Answer:Hello there!

in this case, we want an absolute value equation that has the solutions x = -6 and x= 10.

A cheap way to do this is looking for a number N that:

N - 6 = -(N + 10)

then, isolating N we get:

2N = 6 - 10 = -4

N = -4/2 = -2

then N - 6 = -2 - 6 = -8 and N + 10 = -2 + 10 = 8

and we know that I-8I = I8I = 8

now we can write our equation as:

I- 2 + xI - 8 = 0

where the solutions (or roots) are in x = 10 and x = -6.
