Why can the enzyme Maltase, which breaks down starch into the sugar Maltose, not also be used to break down the sugar sucrose?

A. Maltase is a polar molecule and sucrose is a non-polar molecule.
B. Sucrose is an enzyme too, and an enzymes do not work on each other.
C. Sucrose has a different shape then starch and therefore does not fit the enzyme Maltase.
D. Maltase is not strong enough to break the bonds in sucrose.

The answer is : C. Sucrose has a different shape than starch and therefore does not fit the enzyme Maltase. Each substrate has its own specific enzyme.
