the answer to a positive plus a negative could be positive, negative or zero. it depends on the number you're adding? true or false? if false why correct the satement

This is true. An examples would be
6 + (-3). This is equal to
6 - 3, which is a positive difference. If the negative is larger than the positive, then the answer will be negative because the negative has a larger absolute value. It can equal zero when both the positive and the negative have the same absolute value and cancel each other out. I hope this was helpful.
