The formula used to find the volume of a rectangular prism is V =lwh.

Solve the formula for w, and find the width of a rectangular prism that has a length of 10m, a height of 14m, and an overall volume of 1890m3.

As with any one-step linear equation, divide by the coefficient of the variable of interest.

... V = lwh

... w = V/(lh)

For your numbers, ...

... w = (1890 m³)/((10 m)(14 m)) = 13.5 m

The width is 13.5 m.
