What is the absolute value of 5x + 10=-7

The absolute value of something is it´s distance away from zero. Now, we need to make everything positive in the equation.

Given: absval 5x+10=-7

Simplify: |5x+10=-7|

Abs Val: 5x+10=7

Now, we have the absolute value of 5x+10=-7

Now, to simplify so we can use this EXAMPLE to display the true answer.

Subtraction: 5x=-17

Division: x=-17/5

Simplify: x=-3.4

Absolute Value: x=3.4

Answer: x=3.4
