Given two points
A = (A_x, A_y),\ B = (B_x,B_y), the slope of the line passing through the two points is

m = (A_y-B_y)/(A_x-B_x)

So, in your case, you have

m = (3-5)/(-2-4) = (-2)/(-6) = (1)/(3)
