50,000 * .27 = 13,500

The increase is 27% of $50,000

So we need multiply $50,000 * 27%

But first we need to convert the percentage 27% to decimal because we are multiplying it by 50000, another decimal

To convert to a decimal, move the decimal point to spaces up, or basically divide it by 100. This is because 27% is 27 parts out of 100, which is 27/100

$50,000 * 0.27 = $13,500

This is the change in value.

Extension: If it asked you for the total worth, you would have to add the original value of 50,000 to the change. But because it is only the increase, it is $13,500
