(2x)/(2)=(2)/(2)
2x+6=8

2x+6-6=8-6

2x=2

(2x)/(2)=(2)/(2)

x=1

2x+6=-8

2x+6-6=-8-6

2x=-14

(2x)/(2)=(-14)/(2)

x=-7

x=1 or x=-7 is correct answer.

Hope this helps!

Thanks!
