Givens

Point1: (4,12)

Point2: (20,36)

Both have been read from the table.

Slope

y2 = 36; y1 = 12; x2 = 20; x1 = 4

Formula

\text{m = } (y_2 - y_1)/(x_2 - x_1)

m = (36 - 12)/(20 - 4)

m = 24/16 = 3/2 = 1.5

Statement

a and d are both incorrect. The slope is wrong.

Y intercept.

Use one of the points to find the y intercept.

So far what you have y = 1.5 x + b

Use (4,12) to solve for b.

12 = 1.5*4 + b

12 = 6 + b Subtract 6 from both sides.

12 - 6 = b

b = 6

Answer

y = 1.5x + 6
