42.50 + 10% = 46.75, to add a percentage to a number multiply that number by 1 plus the percentage fraction. For ex, 25000+10%=25000×1.09=27250.

$46.75

Change the 10% to a decimal by moving the decimal 2 places to the left. 0.10

$42.50 * 0.10= $4.25

$42.50 + $4.25=$46.75.
