Ok, I was having a difficult time solving this on Edmentum myself but I will provide a step by step response as to how I got the correct answer.

Step-by-step explanation:

y = 2x + 1

x + 3y = 10

First, we put in parenthesis (2x + 1) after the 3 with no symbol in between. Because it says 3y. This means we must multiply 3 times the expression provided which is 2x + 1.

So it will look like this so far: x + 3(2x + 1) = 10. We are able to multiply numbers and variables even though we can't subtract or add with them. so, we will multiply 3 times 2x to get 6x, then 3 times 1 to get 3. So, our answer now looks like this:

x + 6x + 3 = 10

Combine like terms on the left side of the equal sign, and we get:

7x + 3 = 10

Finally, subtract 3 from each side of the equal sign. Our equation now looks like this:

7x = 7.

Divide,

x = 1.

So, our x-value is 1.

Now we need to solve for our y-value. So, we substitute the x value (which is 1) for the x in our y-value expression. Our expression now looks like this:

2 * 1 + 1

Multiply,

2 + 1

Finally, we add to get a y-value of 3.

Now, our coordinate pairs are (1 , 3).

Subtract 1 from 3,

For a final answer of C, 2.

If this helped you, please drop a thank you! It is much appreciated! Have a good night!
