Answer:

A property manager charges $59 per month plus 8% of the rent.

Fixed charge = $5

Let x be the monthly rent

8% of rent =
(8)/(100)x=0.08x

a)So, an equation to represent the total monthly fees charged by the property manager =
59+0.08x

b) if jack pays the property manager $165 each month, what is the monthly rent on his property?

59+0.08x =165

x =(165-59)/(0.08)

x =1325

c)if jack raises the rent on the house to $1,495, how much more will he pay the property manager each month?

8% of 1325 = $ 106

8% of 1495 = $119.6

He will pay more = $119.6-$ 106=$13.6

Hence he will pay $13.6 more .

a property manager charges $59 per month plus 8% of the rent

Let x be the monthly rent of the property

y be the total monthly fees

(a) Total monthly fees = 8% of rent + 59

8% = 0.08

y = 0.08 x + 59

(b) Jack pays the property manager $165 each month

Monthly fees y = 165, we need to solve for x

y = 0.08 x + 59

165= 0.08x + 59 (subtract 59 on both sides)

106 = 0.08x

So x= 1325, Monthly rent on his property = $1325

(c) jack raises the rent on the house to $1,495

y = 0.08 x + 59

Plug in 1495 for x and find out y

y = 0.08(1495) + 59

y= 178.6

When rent x= 1325 , he paid = $106

When rent is increased to 1495 , he has to pay = $178.6

178.6 - 106 = 72.6

he will pay $72.6 more to the property manager each month
