Remark

This is a bit vague. Do you mean the rest?

Step One

Add the two fractions together. Start by giving them a common denominator.

1/7 + 2/5 To get these to a common denominator, you have to multiply 1/7 by 5 on the top and bottom, and 7 on the top and bottom. On the second fraction, you have to multiply the top and bottom by 5. Both denominators become 35

(1)/(7) + (2)/(5) = (1*5)/(7*5) +(2*7)/(5*7)=(5)/(35)+(14)/(35)

(5)/(35)+(14)/(35)=(19)/(35)

39/35 is the fractional amount of the whole of the first 2 trips. Now for the third.

Step Two

To find out the fraction for the third trip (again remembering what is left over from the first two trips will be taken up by the third), subtract 19/35 from 1. One means that you now have all the people from the 3 trips accounted for.

1 - 19/35 = 16/35 <<<<<<< Answer
