To find the answer,we can use the two-point formula:

(y1 - y2) = m(x1 - x2)
Where m is the slope.

To find y,we have to first find the slope,then insert either of the coordinates into the equation.

The formula of the slope:

(y1 - y2)/(x1 - x2)

In this case:

(6 - ( - 2))/( - 4 - ( - 8)) \\ = (6 + 2)/( - 4 + 8) \\ (8)/(4) \\ = 2

We can then put (-4,6) into the equation:

6-y = 2[x-(-4)]
-y = 2x+4(2)-6
-y = 2x+2
y = -(2x+2)
y = -2x-2

Therefore the answer is -2x-2.

Hope it helps!
