f(-2)= (-2)^2 + 4(-2) + 9= 4 - 8 + 9 = -4 + 9= 5

Hey there!

How do we solve this ?

We substitute the value of -2 instead of x

f ( -2 ) = ( -2 )² + 4 ( -2 ) + 9

f ( -2 ) = 4 - 8 + 9

... f ( -2 ) = 13 - 8

... f ( -2 ) = 5

Hence, the required answer is 5

Hope my answer helps!
