The directions for mixing an insect spray say to use 1 1/2 ounces of chemical in each gallon of water. How many ounces of chemical should be mixed with 3 4/5 gallons of​ water? First, estimate the answer to the application problem. Then find the exact answer.

Given that
1(1)/(2) ounces of chemical required for each gallon.

Total amount of chemical required for
3(4)/(5) gallons water will be product if
1(1)/(2) and
3(4)/(5) that is approximately 2*4 = 8 ounces (
3(4)/(5) means 3+(
(4)/(5)) 3.8 ≈4 and
1(1)/(2) means 1+(
(1)/(2)) 1.5≈2)

Exact amount = 1.5*3.8 = 5.7 ounces.
