If sales tax is 9%,what is the tax on a sale of $3,000?

We can use proportion to solve this problem.

$ 3000 --- 100%

$ x --- 9 %

x = (3000*9)/100 = 270

Sale tax is $ 270.

If the tax is 9 all you have to do is multiply 3000 by .09. And then you get 270 which is you sales tax. And if you want to find the full total all you do Is add the sales tax to the total.
