The devastation caused by natural disasters is the most obvious, but there are other impacts as well. Some cultures might believe that natural disasters have some sort of divine connection. Take the battle between the Japanese samurai and Kublai Khan's army in the year of 1274. After at least 50 days of defensive fighting, there were only about 900 or so samurai left. They were preparing for junshi. While this was happening, an unexpected typhoon struck the coast and decimated the Mongol fleet. This became known as the the Kamikaze, or the divine wind. I hope this was helpful.
