The equation would be: x + 1/2 = 4/7
Then subtract 1/2 from both sides:
x + 1/2 = 4/7
- 1/2 = -1/2

To subtract 4/7 from 1/2 you have to make both denominators the same. They are both divisible by 14, so the new fractions would be 8/14 and 7/14 (multiply 4/7 by 2 and multiply 1/2 by 7)

The answer would be x = 1/14
