I am in pre-algebra and i need help answering a question for homework..

What is the answer for x

2x-2=4x+6

2x-2=4x-6

Subtract 4x from both sides of the equation

-2x-2=6

Add two to both sides of the equation.

-2x=8

Devide by -2

x=-4

the answer is x is equal to -4
