Samuel's Memory is a story that is told from the perspective of Samuel Cloud. Samuel Cloud is a young boy who turned 9 years old on the Trail of Tears. This story is told by Cloud's great-great grandson who is a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, Michael Rutledge. In this text, we learn of all the tragedies and abuses that the Cherokee Nation suffered. One of this is the death of Samuel's mother. After this event, Samuel becomes angry and blames the loss on the settlers.
