The SI unit for density is kilograms per cubic meter. However, often grams per cubic centimeter or grams per milliliter, which are equal (1 cubic centimeter = i milliliter), is used. In order to find the density of a substance, you divide its mass by its volume.

Volume is the amount of space that a substance or object occupies. Density is a measure of mass per unit of volume. In order to find the density of a substance, you divide its mass by its volume, and that is how they are related.
