Total amount of trail mix which is poured into the bags =
2(1)/(4) pounds

=
(9)/(4) pounds

Total amount of trail mix in each bag =
(3)/(8) pound

Number of bags with
(3)/(8) pound, which can be poured from
2(1)/(4) pounds of trail mix

= Total amount of trail mix
/ Amount of trail mix in each bag

=
(9)/(4) / (3)/(8)

=
(9)/(4) * (8)/(3)

= 6 bags

Number of bags taken on a hiking trip =
(2)/(3) of bags

=
(2)/(3) * 6

= 4 bags

Now, number of bags of trail mix which are left = 6-4 = 2 bags.

Therefore, 2 bags are left.
