We will use the commutative property:
a(b+c) = ab+ac

3(x+3)=5x-5

=3x+9=5x-5

=3x+9+5=5x-5+5 Isolate number

=3x+14=5x

=3x-3x+14=5x Isolate x

14=5x

14/5=5x/5

2.8=x

Therefore, the answer is 2.8.
