62% of Nate’s class came to see one of his performances. If 186 students saw his performance, how many students are in Nate’s class?

To find percentages, you multiply the number by the percentage divide by 100.

Meaning, to find 30% of 100 you would divide 30 by 100 (getting .3) and then multiply 100 by it. It would be 100x.3 = 33. 33 is 30% of 100.

However, in this case, we know the percentage of kids but not the total. To find the total, we do the opposite of multiply (divide)

186÷.62 = 300

There are 300 students in Nate's class
