An energy department has estimated that solar power plants covering 4242 square miles, or 38% of a certain western state, could generate enough electricity to meet the needs of the entire country. Find the area of the state

Let x be the area of the state.

Solar power plants covering 4242 square miles or 38% area.

So,
(38x)/(100) = 4242


x = (4242(100))/(38)

= 11,163 miles approximately.

Hence, area of the state is 11,163 miles approximately.
