Loyalism was the idea that a citizen would be in favor of staying under the control of Great Britain rather than breaking apart. This idea appealed to several different citizens, including Native Americans. Native Americans knew that the British had one of the strongest militaries in the entire world at this time. America, after declaring independence, was just beginning to create a coordinated army. They had no experience fighting on their own without the help of the British military. This is why many Native Americans remained loyal to the cause of staying with Great Britian, as they figured the young nation had no chance of success.
