width (w): x

Length (L): x + 1

Perimeter = 2(L) + 2(w)

14 = 2(x + 1) + 2(x)

14 = 2x + 2 + 2x

14 = 4x + 2

12 = 4x

3 = x

Length: x + 1 = (3) + 1 = 4

Answer: width = 3, length = 4
