Meredith is playing games at an arcade to earn tickets that she can exchange for a prize. She has 287 tickets from a previous visit, and she earns 5 tickets for each game she plays. In the equation below, x represents the number of games Meredith plays, and y represents the number of tickets she needs for the prize. y = 5x + 287 If Meredith needs 367 tickets to exchange for the prize she wants, how many games does Meredith need to play?

Meredith needs to play 16 games.

Y=367

367=5x + 287
-287
80=5x
80/5=x
16=x

if y=367

then you need to figure out this:

367=5x+287

so remove 287 from 367

367-287=80

Then divide by 5

80/5=16

so, x=16
