Let "a number" = x

4x + 6 = 50 is your equation

Note the equal sign. What you do to one side, you do to the other. Do the opposite of PEMDAS.

Subtract 6 from both sides

4x + 6 (-6) = 50 (-6)

4x = 44

Divide 4 from both sides

4x/4 = 44/4

x = 44/4

x = 11

11 is your answer for the number

hope this helps
