Answer:

Hope this helps in any way :)

Also, I couldn't see #25.

19. 2 2/9 × 4 4/5 = 20/9 × 24/5 = 480/45 = 10 30/45 =

10 2/3 (simplified)

21. 6 2/3 × 5 2/11 = 20/3 × 57/11 = 1140/33 = 34 18/33 =

34 6/11 (simplified)

23. 8 8/9 × 3 1/10 = 80/9 × 31/10 = 2480/90 = 27 50/90 =

27 5/9 (simplified)

26. 4 1/2 × 6 2/3 = 9/2 × 20/3 = 180/6 = 30 (simplified)

Answer:

19) 10 2/3 21) 34 6/11 23) 27 5/9

Explanation:

1) first turn them both into improper fractions

so first step is to look at the denominator and × it by the big number next to it, then add on the top number (numerator) to it

e.g. 9 x 2, you then get 18 then do 18+2 =20,

now this gives you the numerator of your improper fraction, you then keep the denominator (9) the same so it will become 20/9 (hence why they are called top heavy/improper fractions)

2) do the same for the second fraction,

so 5 x 4 =20, 20+4 = 24, then put in the denominator, so it's 24/5

3) now with multiplying you don't need to find the lowest common multiple you just multiply straight across:

do 20 × 24 for the numerator then 9 × 5 for the bottom

20/9 × 24/5= 480/45

this is your answer but you need to simplify it and leave it as a mixed number

5) so work out how many times 45 fully goes into 480 = 10 times (10×45=450 so there is a remainder of 30)

so 10 will be ur big number and 30 ( the remainder will go at the top and the bottom will still be 45

6) so you will get 10 30/45, but as you still need to further simplify 30/45 (divide by 15 to get 2/3), so the final answer would be 10 and 2/3 (10 2/3)
