we are given

f(x)=5|x-8|+20

where

x is number of hours

f(x) is dollars he charges

The charges will be lowest when absolute value will become 0

so, we can set value inside absolute function equals to 0

and then we can solve for x

x-8=0

x=8 hours............Answer

Answer:

The function which is used to find number of Dollars charged by charles

f(x)=5|x-8|+20

Minimum Hourly rate can be calculated, when

|x-8| is minimum.

→|x-8|=0,as Modulus of function is always ≥0.

→x-8=0 ∧ → -(x-8)=0

→x=8 ∧ x=8

Lowest hourly rate that Charles charges is , f(8)

=5×|8-8|+20

=5×0+20

=$20 per Hour
