Farming, fishing, craft making and hunting-gathering made up the economy of American Indian groups. Native Americans after the arrival of the Christopher Columbus and that of the Europeans were referred to as the American Indians. These American Indians formed their tribes on the basis of the area they inhabited and their culture, customs, religion and language.
