REM behavior disorder

REM behavior disorder is a rare disorder in which the mechanism that inhibits the movement of the voluntary muscles fails, allowing the person to thrash around and even get up and act out nightmares.

(REM) Rapid eye movement behavior disorder is a sleep disorder in which an individual physically performs vivid, usually with sudden distressing dreams with vocal sounds, followed by violent movement of arm and leg when sleeping. During rapid eye movement sleep, sudden movements of the eye occur, blood pressure increases, breathing becomes irregular, and loss of muscle tone (paralysis) occurs.
