When a straight line touches a circle we find that at the point of contact the radius forms 90 degrees with the tangent

In the picture given we see that the angle between the tangent and radius at the point of contact is 90 degrees

Hence the triangle given is right angled.

When one angle acute is 54 we find that other angle p is complement of 54

Hence
`m∠p=90-54 =36`
