An airplane flying at 120 km/h due west moves into a region where the wind is blowing at 40 km/h due east of the plains original vector velocity is very plain, what is the expression for the plains resulting velocity in terms of the plane?

Velocity of plane is given as

v_p = 120 km/h towards west

velocity of wind is given as

v_w = 40 km/h towards east

now the net velocity of the plane will be given as

\vec v_(net) = \vec v_p + \vec v_w

\vec v_(net) = 120 - 40

\vec v_(net) = 80 km/h towards west

so the net velocity of plane will be 80 km/h towards west
