The International Court of Justice, commonly referred to as ICJ, is located in The Hague, Netherlands, and started ruling in 1945, being instituted by the UN Charter. Many of the cases it has to do with are referred to those contentious disputes between countries, regarding different matters such as territorial disputes, and environmental matters and in a more general perspective, the violation of international law. The rulings of the ICJ can be enforced by the UN Security Council.
