5/16 + 3/16 = 8/16 (Denominator is the same) 8/16 16 is divisible by 8 so answer is 1/2

Answer:

(1)/(2) inch.

Explanation:

We have two pieces of wood measuring
(3)/(16) and
(5)/(16) inches.

If we join them to form a combined piece then the new measurement of the piece of wood will be =
(3)/(16)+(5)/(16)

=
(3+5)/(16)

=
(8)/(16)

=
(1)/(2) inches

Therefore,
(1)/(2) inch will be the measurement of the combined piece of wood.
